Volunteer
Volunteers play a vital role at the Transitional Living Center (TLC). TLC is an extension of the Burlington Community’s generosity and a chance for volunteers to commit their time and resources towards making a difference in the lives of others.
We are in need of individuals for the many on-going jobs listed below. In addition, many groups contribute by working on a one-time project.
If you are interested in volunteering, please call Jennifer Grandi at 262-763-2206.

Road Ministry
One of the greatest gifts you can give someone struggling to put their life back together in Burlington is a ride.
TLC clients are often without cars. There are no formal transportation programs for many of our least fortunate neighbors. They must access outside resources to rebuild their lives, but just getting to where they need to be is one of the greatest obstacles our clients face most days. This includes medical appointments, job interviews, social service assistance, child needs and food pantry trips.
What is it like to give a stranger a lift? TLC knows their clients well and is careful when assigning rides. We respect what our volunteer drivers are comfortable doing. Sometimes you will hear a life story or share a joke, and other times you will just watch pain, confusion and determination quietly at work next to you. Sometimes the car door closes silently and faith has to remind you that you are making a difference in someone’s road to independent living. Other times, you receive a heartfelt thanks that makes you feel like you a million bucks! Always, there’s a chance to see Jesus in someone in need.
If you are an insured driver with a good driving record, and would like to help out with driving even once a month, please contact TLC at 262-767-1478 and ask to speak with Jen or Katie.
